I have just updated XnView to version V1.80.1.
Now I have a problem with the display of images in viewer and browser.
That means that the orientation in viewer and browser is different!?
This happens also with images I have rotated with earlier versions of XnView.
What is the problem?

Re: XnView V1.80.1 orientation jpeg viewer, browser
You are suffering from what really is an improvement: while XnView in older versions produced its own thumbnails for JPGs it is now capable of displaying thumbnails that are already in available in most JPGs, e.g. when taken with a digicam. These embedded thumbnails are a good thing, they display much faster and are usable for all programs that display JPGs.petklaus wrote:I have just updated XnView to version V1.80.1.

But when you rotate a JPG and do not rotate the embedded thumb too, as old XnView did, view and thumbnail preview differ of course. New XnView works correctly.
You have a few choices to avoid/correct your problem:
- Use a program named "exifer" (http://www.exifer.friedemann.info/ , its free/postcardware) to rotate/recreate the thumbnails that are not rotated. All JPGs rotated with this and future versions of XnView automatically rotate the thumbnail, too.
- If you don't want the embedded thumbnails to be displayed in thumbnail view simply uncheck the setting "Use embedded thumbnail" in Options->Browser->Thumbnail.
Hope this clears things a little.
Thank you Martin (negg) for your good explanation which is correct.
