Just downloaded 0.87 64-bit - running under Win 10
For image files on a USB stick the categories pane is greyed out.
All files have had their read-only bit reset and running "dir /a:/r" shows no files while dir alone shows them all.
For the same directory on a local hard drive the pane works as expected.
PS: 0.86 does the same

My apologies for the delay - I was away for a few days.
The attached screen shots show the same files.
One lives on a USB stick, the other on the local hard drive

That's how it works when the file is on a hard drive, but not after I move the same directory to a thumb drive.
As a test, I tried to write some data using Irfanview to the files on the thumb drive and it worked.
I had verified that the read-only bit was NOT on and the second test with Irfanview confirmed this for me because I was able to write and erase data in th first file, the one I used for the screenshots.

read-only is not the problem, and if you select 2 files?

I can no longer reproduce this problem, though I don't know of anything I did.
Please considered it resolved for now
