XnViewMP Cache logic?

Post by CleverPig »

Cache logic is different in latest version comparing with those from year 2012. And I prefer old one.
I will try to explain with example:

I watch video. Made 4 screenshots during watching, let it be empty folder for test. File names are, let's say
Video 038.mkv_snapshot_17.48
Video 038.mkv_snapshot_17.52
Video 038.mkv_snapshot_18.01
Video 038.mkv_snapshot_19.54

Last numbers are video timing.

Now I want to check them, open first file, and then all others, using same XnViewMP window and hotkeys(arrows).
So what happens if we made a new screenshot, with name Video 038.mkv_snapshot_18.41 somewhere in between while keeping screenshot number 4 - Video 038.mkv_snapshot_19.54 - opened? It will appear as actual 4th screenshot in file list and Video 038.mkv_snapshot_19.54 will be 5th already. And what is program reaction?

Old XnViewMP - you start pushing "back" key and it opens new fresh screenshot named Video 038.mkv_snapshot_18.41
New XnViewMP - you start pushing "back" key and it opens files like nothing happened, I mean it will open Video 038.mkv_snapshot_18.01, and Video 038.mkv_snapshot_18.41 will never appear before you until you restart program or start new program instance.

Playing with cache settings in interface changes nothing in this behavior. Any way to made program work as old versions? Am I missing something?

No, I wanted to say, I like the way "XnViewMP v 0.52" works, for example.
v 0.88(or any latest) does not check file list for newly created files and shows in "viewer mode" only those images that existed at the moment of program start.

I have never used Classic, I tried once but it does not open files named with Asian characters.
