Why can't I set "A" or "D" as shortcuts?

I'm trying to set up shortcuts for viewer mode, and for some reason, neither "A" nor "D", if without operators, work as shortcuts for anything I've tried. It will let me assign them, but then they don't work. This doesn't seem to be the case in browser mode. I tried to search for if this was a known issue, but I couldn't find anything. Am I missing something?

I'm using 64-bit for Windows.
