XnViewMP Setup on Mac

I am trying to setup XnViewMP on OSX 10.12.16 . The setup wizard gives a choice of User(system) or Program(XnView) or Custom for the files.

Since this is one user account of several on this Mac, it is not an Admin account, and I prefer not to change applications as a result of user actions, I think I must choose User(system), or Custom.

However, I cannot anywhere find any documentation regarding what is meant by User(system) for an OSX installation (I have found this description for Windows installation, but OSX structure is different from Windows).

Can someone tell me what this choice means (or where to find the information about it), and also why one would use the "Custom" choice.

yes you need to choose 'User', and configuration files will be saved in ~/.config/xnviewmp
