I have a folder on my HDD with 1384 items (most of them photos). I just ditched FastStone which is painstakingly slow...
After a few reviews I read, and fact I was already using XnView Portable I decided to give MP a go.
Compared to FastStone it's fast, but opening a single image takes seconds (!).
Portable version is blazing fast, but even default MS viewer is faster.
What is going on in the background?!
This is very annoying...

Re: Slow single image open
if you try to open a file from a folder (without others files), do you have same delay?

Re: Slow single image open
Same file in empty folder is faster, but my feeling is that XnPortable is still faster.
Here is a video: https://youtu.be/V8cXXNOWlIs
On the left the big folder - opened with MP.
On the right single file - opened with MP, Portable and MS Viwer.
MP is slowest of all...

Re: Slow single image open
It's interesting to now have an explanation for the frequently reported slow startup of XnView MP...xnview wrote: Fri Aug 10, 2018 7:56 am XnView Classic is win32 based, XnView MP needs to initialize all Qt's API. The problem is the startup...
No solution in sight, other than future computers will be faster?
