Use as a file viewer

When I double-click on an image file (in Windows file listing), two XnView windows open - one full-screen with the image on a plain white background, and a second with the image and tool bar after I close the first (hiding underneath). I'd like just the plain image to load without the second so I don't have to manually close both, just the first. I'd like to use it as a just simple file viewer at times. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
