Hello everybody.
I am new here. I discovered this amazing program just today and I am very look forward to use it.
To my amusement it works with RW2 files from Lumix S1 which is amazing considering that most of the "leading" programs still
did not implement it...
Now I got a small problem which at the moment stops me completely.
I prefer to change names of my pictures during import process and this program seems to do it excellent.. but:
every single file in Lumix S1 has a date of creation... obviously, this date is very accurate and actually I really need it.
It includes hour minutes and seconds... Now, when I try to import pictures and change their names in a way to give them date of creation as a name program does not do it because it tries to write name using colon sign between hours/minutes/seconds.. which is terrible idea because windows operating system does not allow to name files using colon sign... As a result I got a message that program has no permissions to write a file... I tried to to change it in options but no success.
Could someone give me a hint how to do it? I need because I got sound files recorded at the same time and I use it to synchronization
and this is the best way to find matching files among hundreds others ( I mean when files have exact date and time implemented in name...)
Bellow I attach link to the screen which shows message on my computer.
I will be very helpful for any help ...

Re: Is it a bug or I do something wrong?
Hello, I found where the problem was...
When you choose as a new name "creation date" it gives you it as {Creation Date} which is wrong, I just added [YmdHMS]
which resulted as {Creation Date [YmdHMS]} and then XnView imports pictures correctly without implementing the colon sign in the name of the file...
You can also modify it as you wish.. I did it like this { Creation Date [Y-m-d HMS]}_{Filename} which gives me files like this 2019-07-28 193136_P1047835.RW2 which has the date and the time when picture was taken and original name of it
So generally speaking, there is a fault in implementation of Creation date...
or maybe I just did not know everyone is supposed to figure it out by himself...
I hope it helps

Re: Is it a bug or I do something wrong?
Well. I think maybe I expressed it in a bit wrong way...
What I meant is this: When you choose "import and sort" there is a tick New filename and next to it is pop up menu where is certain choice. However there is no {Creation Date} which is under next pop up menu which is when press kind of "play" button next right. Now, when you choose it you'll get just { Creation Date} without any option like for example [YmdHMS]... I don't think it is wrong but my guess is that this bare function without any option just reads what written in a file (with no any changes) and I think in my case file has an hour of creation written in format with semi colon like this 19:20:34 which makes fault during the process because as I mentioned before windows system does not allow to name files with colon signs...
Maybe this is just problem as far as pictures from my camera are concerned but nonetheless it makes impossible to name the files the way I need...
I am not sure if this is fault of program or this is fault with pictures from my camera but the most important is that with my small tweak it works perfectly.

I will try the same function with pictures from different camera and let here know the result:)
Re: Is it a bug or I do something wrong?
Well
I checked it thoroughly, It is my fault..., I am really sorry, I just did know that this "play" button is for add function not to choose function...
and I know now that empty function just does not work it has to have some guide what to do like [Ymd] . I get it now.
sorry for this mess. I learnt something today
