Hi, how do I display a PDF that has no background, I don't want to see the white background, I would like to see the checkerboard grid that indicates transparency if at all possible.
Can this be done? if so, how would I go about setting XNViewMP up please.
TIA

Re: Display PDF with Transparency
Googling quickly, it is possible that there is a bug in some recent Ghostscript versions, as reported in this post on another site.Mr-Black wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2019 11:02 am Hi, how do I display a PDF that has no background, I don't want to see the white background, I would like to see the checkerboard grid that indicates transparency if at all possible.

Reading the above thread, you might try installing Ghostscript 9.23, for example...
Re: Display PDF with Transparency
Thanks for that info, I had the latest Ghostscript 9.27 installed with home-brew and symlinked. I removed that and installed Ghostscript 9.23 but to no avail. I'm on Mac HS by the way.
I know Adobe Acrobat Pro can show transparency but I'm not a fan of Adobe. It's actually quite difficult to find an app that can show a PDF as it is with transparency. I can open the PDF in Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer and it will show the transparency but that's what I created the PDF in so it's a bit of a given.
Would be interesting to compile a list of apps that can display PDF transparency.

Re: Display PDF with Transparency
XnView software uses Ghostscript to rasterise PDFs, and I thought the thread I linked to indicated that Ghostscript should be able to display images with transparency, so I'm not sure what the problem can be, presumably you can view images without transparency correctly on Mac HS using XnView MP?Mr-Black wrote: Sat Aug 10, 2019 6:36 pm Thanks for that info, I had the latest Ghostscript 9.27 installed with home-brew and symlinked. It might be helpful if you could upload an example image if that is possible, in case anyone has any ideas, 2MiB the current forum attachment limit.
