Newbie - Downloaded Last Night

I just have 1 question to get started.

Ive setup a couple of directories to monitor.

How do I manually click on something to start generating thumbnails in the background or does it do automatically upon start?

I know it will generate thumbs when I open a directory, but I wanted to click on something so I know that its working to make them and do something else on the laptop.

Is there an icon to generate thumbs too?

Any help is appreciated as I learn this program
