How to edit and copy thumbnail index

Post by toyotadesigner »

I've purchased a new external HD, where I copied all image from my main external (FireWire 800) HD to.

I tried it with XnView, hoping it will also copy the thumbnails or links to thumbnails, but it doesn't. So I copied the image directories and file with »Finder« to the new HD.

Now my question: Where can I find the thumbnail database?

I would like to copy all data and thumbnails, then edit them so that they point to the new location, and place them back into the original folder, so that I can switch back and forth between the two hard drives.

Does it make sense what I want?

If not, is there a way to have XnView generate the thumbnails directly in the image folders, so that I don't have to re-generate them in the future?
