New installation of XnViewMP opens and immediately closes

I have tried both the portable and the installer versions of XnViewMP today, and in both cases when I click on the link to the program, it opens and immediately closes. I am running Windows 10 64 bit.

do you have tried to drag&drop an image file to XnView's icon?
