.insp and .insv 360 file types

Post by nathan8 »

Just discovered this great app. Sure wish a version of it was on the Mac app store (like some other Xn stuff is) even it was not full featured, even if it had a cost.....would have helped me discover it sooner. Anyway, here's my question:

I shoot a lot of 360 photos and videos these days with an Insta360 camera.

XnView recognizes lossy 360 still photos in the .insp format and imports them. This isn't actually listed as a supported file type on the web site, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it supported!

XnView of course recognizes the RAW 360 photos from Insta360 since they are .dng.

XnView does not recognize (when importing) 360 video files (which are really just flat mp4 files with metadata) in the .insv format.

Is there any plan to add support for .insv? I'm not asking for a 360 viewer. Seeing them flat is fine. Just would love to use the same management tool for them as all the other image types.

What is the best way to share them? Either I am too new to upload an attachment here OR the file type is not allowed.

Only a few common file types can be attached directly, but other file types can be attached if placed in a ZIP or similar archive.

Current forum attachment limit is 2MiB, if necessary larger files can be uploaded to a file hosting service and a download link provided, or sent directly to Pierre at the contact email address; files too large to send by email can be sent using Wetransfer.
