Opening RW2 from file explorer

Post by francisw19 »

Hi all, I have Xnview MP 0.95 installed on my Windows 10 PC. I use it to browse my photos from my Panasonic camera. The RAW images are RW2 files. If I open Xnview and then browse to an RW2 file, the picture opens fine - no problems. But, if I browse to any RW2 file using the Windows file explorer and double-click the RW2 file to open it (it's properly associated with Xnview), Xnview will launch but the file won't open - nothing comes up in the preview.

It seems I got the file associations set up right so it should open. I can't see any preferences affecting this. Is it something I've set wrong or just a bug?

If you need help with the registry, please post back. Someone can help you with deleting the RW2 key

Thanks for the reply! And yes, if anyone could please point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated :) I'm OK navigating the registry, just need to know where to go.

Now find a JPG file and right click it then "Open with"
If XnVuew is not in the list choose another app
Then go to program files and drill down into the XnView folder and choose the correct EXE file and you should be good to go
Make sure you checked "Always open with" on the way in
