Rename, Save As not functioning [Linux - Solved]

XnView: MP 0.96 latest 64 bit
OS: Linux Mint/64bit

Trying to rename a file (say,for ex, to save as an original "master" photo so I don't lose it for revising to later changes).

I tried several times, when making a slight change to a photo, or in renaming a photo to a "master" file, a dialog box appears stating: "an error occurs during rename" (see attached screen shot)...same occurs when I try "save as"

I then thought it might be a permission issue, so I went to the photo's "properties", click for "Read and write" (change from from "Read only") dialog box states "sorry, could not change the permissions of etc etc"


Actual behaviour (bug): <Current wrong behaviour of XnView> does not rename/save as, permission denied

Expected behaviour: <Expected, correct behaviour of XnView> make a change to a photo (i,e remove white dots in photo, filter out bad spots, etc, then rename or save as)

Are you able to save a renamed file in another software, such as Mint's 'Image Viewer'?

Are the images you are editing in your Home folder?

If it could be a rights issue, the Mint forum is normally very responsive to requests for support...

RESOLVED!!

My bad, it seems...

I typically save "master" files to a usb thumbdrive so I won't lose them...so after all of my attempts at checking the properties of all my drives, and trying to open/save with other similar programs (most of which I do not like--XnView is the best by far), I took the thumb drive to another computer using Windows 7 (I figured the problem might be the OS Linux Mint on my laptop)-- the thumbdrive worked!!

Bringing it back to my laptop (figuring I was going to be stymied yet again), it worked this time as well....

It appears the thumbdrive was not "fully-inserted" into the drive "hole" originally--although from all appearances, it had looked solidly in place.

So, my fault entirely for bringing up this problem. By process of elimination (thanks--very much-- to all who wrote!!!), the issue was resolved.

Sometimes it's the simplest of solutions. I'm a happy camper once again!!
