How do I migrate my categories to a new install of XnView?

Post by dcrosby »

OK. I give up. I just updated my XnView MP from.84 to .96 on my Mac. Try as I might I can't figure out how to bring in my painstakingly crafted category list (with hierarchy intact) to the latest version. It can't be that difficult but browsing through these forums has not helped at all. Thanks in advance.

Strange that you have not previous categories list. In settings>Integration>Path - Open catalog location, which path is it?

Both versions are set up as the screen shot shows leading to their respective application. The newer version has files in the MacOS folder that the older one does not have: xnview.db, thumb.db

Is it possible that the db files from my older installation are located elsewhere on my computer?

You had always used 'XnView folder' to store your .db? Not sure that was the good way on MacOS. By default it's in $HOME/.config/xnviewmp
