How to add a customer filter to only show JPG and PNG files

Post by mrwul »

Is there a way to add a custom filter that will show only JPG or PNG files when activated.

Within a folder I have a few other formats, such as PSD and BMP.
I do not want them to show up.

I went into Tools > File List > Custom Filter but I don't know how to add my custom filter there.
IF... at all possible.

Thanks.!

Use the "Quck Search" to find ".JPG" and so forth

Thanks a lot!

Now knowing what to use, I had to do some searches on Internet to find that I should then use, for example, in this case: (JPG|PNG).
Whilst doing so, I encountered quite a few posts on the 'Quick Search' matter suggesting some improvements here and there.

This Quick Search (JPG|PNG), I believe it is not possible to save this or add this as a kind custom filter.

Anyway, thanks again!

Well you can get the utility "Everything" https://www.voidtools.com/
There is a small learning curv (small!) You can do this and save it as a book mark

This is worth having even if it seems to be overkill as it can search all your hard drives almost instantly for ... whatever 8)

Thank you for the tip!

Indeed, it is a very nice and powerful tool.
I am running it by default, since somewhere 2013... :-)

In this case though, within XnViewMP, I believe it might be handy to be able to simply save a current view/filter.

Something like:

As this 'idea' is somewhere in some thread under "General Support", it -may- not be recorded as a suggestion.
So, for good order's sake, I have also posted it in the 'Suggestions'-section as well.
