XnViewMP can't read Photos on Mac

This is driving me crazy, I can't view any photos on XnView. When I click on my Photos library I get a message saying 'File can't be loaded'. Is this a permissions issue? If so, how do I give XnView permission to access Photos. Any help very gratefully received.

I'm not a Mac user and not very optimistic I can help, but:

In the viewer/editor File > Format settings -- Read tab there is a setting 'Ignore read errors' that you could try.

Are the files on your main drive or an external drive?

What formats (file extensions) are you trying to view?

i think that it's a permission issue, you have this problem with all folders?

Thanks for your reply, Pierre. I'm not sure. The photos permissions in the privacy tab says that I have given permission for some Apps (eg Duplicate Photo Cleaner) to access Photos. But I can't read them on that App either. XnView has not asked for permission to access Photos.

you can't add permission? you are on Catalina?

Yes, Catalina, but I can't see a way to add permission. I am probably doing something stupid...

Try to remove XnView, and download it again?

New problem, can't figure how to uninstall the app. Have deleted it, all refs to it in /Library, emptied the bin and restarted. It's still there.
