Better Linux version

Post by raducoc »

XnView is a very good program, but... Please a better Linux version. The Windows version is so good, but Linux interface is lacks. Please compile with GTK2 or QT3 if this is posible. Motif is so ugly! I want the same functionality in Linux like in Windows.

Also, I want customizable columns like in ACDSee, and a better support for comments in EXIF data. I want to comment my JPG pictures and view the comments in the columns.

At first I was afraid...

Oops! Not a song!

At first I thought XnView was a bit ugly, but now I'm used to it. But I still don't like Motif too much, because it lacks functionality. Alt+shortcut does not activate menu items, spinbox (used in Resize dialog, for example) isn't very good (Pierre said: "Yes, i must write my own spinbox widget!"), among a few other problems (like scroll with mouse wheel, which Pierre must include support by hand in code).

I would like a more functional GUI, like GTK or QT (I think GTK could be better). Of course, if it is not in AIX/HPUX/IRIX by default, you could put a statically linked version at download files (like you already have).

If you want, you can try to create an intermediate layer between interface library and XnView, so that you can "easily" change the library without touching in XnView core. This will allow you to compile a Motif version and a GTK version (and you can make both versions available).
