When using the GPS editing dialogue, regardless of whether doing them singly or four or five at a time, about 50% of the time, the information does not "stick". (all jpegs)
For example, if I load three images, all to get the same coordinates, one of the images will not get the coordinates applied; it can be any one of the group that will miss getting the coordinates.
If I catch this before I load any other images, I can reload the image and the coordinates will still be in the editor; I click Write, and usually, the information will stick on this second go-around.
This behavior really slows things down; not only the act of having to reload the missed images, but the fact that I have to be on constant alert and investigate every single image to make sure the coordinates were applied.
I am using 64-bit Windows 7 Pro.
I was having the problem with XnView MP version 0.93.1 06-Mar-2019.
I updated to version 0.96.5 17-Aug-2020 and the problem remains; and, from what I am seeing, may actually be worse.
It is more apt to happen when doing low numbers of jpegs, between one and four images - the same data being applied.
I have not "YET" had it happen when doing several images at once, as many as thirty at a time and no problem yet.

Re: GPS Editor Erratic in Applying Data
No; the behavior is random.
My machine is 64-bit Windows 7 Pro
Random images that have had the GPS data applied with XnView MP = other programs show them as not having the data = I can reload the images that are missing the data, one by one, back in the XnView MP GPS Editor, the coordinates will already be in the respective fields, I click Write again, and then other programs will now recognize the data.
Just to clarify that it is not a glitch on my end, the GPS Editor in digiKam is much slower to use, requiring more "clicks", but I never have the problem when I use digiKam.
Re: GPS Editor Erratic in Applying Data
you means that image file with problem, has good value in XnView MP but not in other programs?
Pierre.

I have found a work-around that seems to help = before moving on to other programs, I just reload the images a second time and click Write again; going through the process twice seems to insure that any stray images that missed the first time will work the second time; thus far, I have not found any missed images by following this procedure.
