Right clicking on file in Explorer opens Share window - Windows 10

Post by JeffLeites »

I've been using Classic, but just installed MP on my Windows 10 desktop.

When, in Windows Explorer, I right click on a .jpg file, click on OPEN WITH, then select XnView MP, it opens a popup SHARE window. I don't see anyway to close it.

I then installed MP on my Windows 10 notebook. When I use the right click context menu on the notebook, it just opens and displays the picture as expected.

I don't know what is different. How do I make the desktop display the picture instead of the popup Share window?

Update - After more checking, I find that it is the same Share popup window that you get if you click on Share in the context menu. If no one can help, I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling. If that doesn't work, I might have to dig into the registry.

Why not right click a .jpg file then choose "open with" and make sure 'always open" is checked when you choose xnview?

The Always Use... option only appears when you click on choose another app. XnViewMP is already in the context menu, it just opens the Share popup instead of XnViewMP. Besides, I don't want it to always open XnViewMP I just want it to work right like it does on my Notebook. The only major difference I see between my Desktop where it doesn't work, and my Notebook where it does work is that the Notebook is running Windows 10 - 2400 Update and the Desktop is still running Update 1907 (the update hasn't com in yet). BTW, uninstalling/reinstalling didn't fix it either.
