view files on m.2 SSD drive

Post by rnmerchant »

Good morning:

I have a couple of regular spinning-platter hard drives, and in addition an m.2 SSD drive.

XnView works just fine with the regular drives but "doesn't work" with the m.2 drive.

It does see the drive, and in the folder pane will show the various directories and subdirectories. However the folders will not open in the View thumbnails pane: it remains "stuck" on the last working folder on one of the regular drives.

This is the same whether I run XnView in regular mode or in 'administrator' mode. The drive works as routine in Explorer and other routine Windows 10 program.

I'm running it on Win10 v2004 (the most recent).

Any ideas why this behavior is happening?

Thanks Richard

Thanks:

Yes, I can see the drive and all the folders in the 'folder tree'. However when I click on any folder the thumbnail pane does not change from the previously viewed folder on a different drive...

For just another interesting factoid, I have just installed XnView classic - this version runs just fine! I can see all the folders and drives on my computer....

Not entirely helpful for you, only that it isn't M.2 drives per se as my system runs on a Samsung 970 EVO Pro and I have no problems at all with Classic nor MP viewing files on that, my backup hard drives and NAS.
Have you tried changing the name of the ini file and started again from scratch to eliminate your setup?

I came back to this post just very lately. For reasons unclear to me - likely the digital gremlins - the problem with SSD M.2 drives appears to have gone away. No reason why....
