XNView MP on Linux Mint can't find hard drive [Solved]

Post by kaie »

Hi,
I'm using XNView MP on Linux Mint 20 and I have a SSD for Linux and a harddrive for the data. XNView MP can't find that harddrive. It is in the folder mnt in the manager but XNView MP says this folder doesn't exist. I don't understand it.

Current version of XnView MP?

Some versions back USB memories didn't show up, if I recall correctly.

It's version XnView MP Linux
Version 0.93.1 64bits (Feb 28 2019)
Libformat version 7.25

But it's not an external USB harddrive, it's an internal.

I would suggest trying a newer version anyway, as although I'm still quite new to Linux I suspect that might be relevant, 0.93.1 had the external (usb) drive issue...

Unfortunately, many later Linux downloads may not work without tweaking dependencies, and the Flatpak link still downloads 0.93.1, so I would suggest trying the AppImage version for a quick test, you just need to right-click the download to make it executable and then it should open with a double-click. AppImage 0.96 is known good on Mint 19.3.

If the latest download doesn't run you can download 0.96 here: Old versions

I just used the official Linux version from the software manager. It's not an USB hard drive, it's a SATA hard drive.

That is the Flatpak which is a quite old version, as support on the forum is quite limited my advice is to try a later version, such as the AppImage I suggested, which I think might resolve your problem.

I got a new version and it worked. Really a shame that they put an old buggy version in the software manager. XNView the best image viewer on Linux.

Thank you for your help.
