Mirroring images not working as expected

PLEASEEEE let us flip images without saving it automatically after we flip it.
Also, let us select part of a picture and ONLY flip what's selected.
Finally, let us flip pictures that aren't saved! Idk why this was ever changed, but now can only flip pictures that are saved to the disk. Before, in XnView classic, we could copy a picture from elsewhere, paste it into XnView, flip part of the picture without flipping the whole thing, and then save it.

Now, now only pictures that are only saved can be flipped AND it flips the whole thing and saves it automatically vs. letting us see if we like it flipped before saving it.

In Windows, Image > Mirror ?

I can't reproduce with 0.98.0 in Linux, which shouldn't be a factor: I can create a new image using File > New image... and Image > Draw... then make a selection, mirror the selection correctly, and the image isn't saved until I save it...

Some confusion maybe, perhaps you could test using the above sequence to eliminate some possibilities?
