Videos: rotated thumbnails, flipped preview

Just ran into this issue: some video thumbnails are rotated (90 deg counter clockwise), the corresponding preview is then rotated 180 deg. I have "rotate images according to EXIF" activated, if that makes any difference for videos.

It appears that this happens with portrait videos only. Although, some of them are shown correctly (thumbnail and preview).

Any ideas how to resolve this?
