Write to the raw file

I'm trying to figure which setting causes XnViewMP to modify the raw files.

When I change the IPTCs, XnV write to the raw file: dscf8516.raf and also makes a backup: dscf8516.raf_original.

My settings are:

In spite of selecting: create/update sidecar XnMp modifies the raw file.

What I want is to write all the data to the XMP sidecar and not to modify the original raw image.

Uncheck "Export catalog's category to XMP subject and IPTC Keyword"

Keep only "Update or create XMP sidecar" option

You can read ExifTool tab to make sure that no new xmp metadata has been added into the original file
Note that since V0.92 V0.98 , the new window "Tools, Metadata, Edit XMP" allows to add all metadata in the sidecar file
That is a great improvement for sidecar users

Can the edit XMP applied to many images at the same time?

When I selected 5 images, I click on "Write to all files", XnViewMP doesn't close. I have to eventually click on Cancel.

Is this either a bug or is there another way of closing the Edit XMP window?

BTW: Opensuse Linux appimage: 0.98.2

Yes,"write to al filesl" does the job.
Then, we have to close the window anyway
