how to open file to editor?

xnviewmp opens files directly to slideshow, I want files to open directly into editor, like classic does. where can i find this setting?

SETTINGS / GENERAL and check "Open in browser"

It seems like it is slightly more complicated than that. Under that setting you must also have "Mode when starting with a file" set to Normal.
