Open image with... (exp Pdf with Acrobat Reader) as a permanent choice...

Post by Gerald_Ire »

Hi to all!
I'd like to avoid to install GosthScript as a viewer or pdf editor and would love the option when choosing a programm for a file attribute that this would open it - on the fly - when clicking on icon in the XnViewMP browser - instead of right click - choosing program - open file with...

Any chance to do so as a permanent way?

Hi! Found the "solution"... or I do now understand the option "F3" :)
If "pdf" is setup in windows to "Acrobat Reader" we can open the pdf with shortcut "F3" ...

I feel it would be a huge win if XnView could be programmed to open pdf's with the default pdf-viewer.

So instead of hitting F3, just a regular double click or "enter" that opens the pdf.
Would be more user friendly! 🙂

(I already have countless shortcuts I have to remember for each individual program, lol...)

change AI/PS/PDF to Associated program in Settings > File list > Custom filter

Thanks for getting back to me.
I think (?) I have that setting enabled (see below), but XnView still just shows my pdf's like an image if I double click on them.

My default pdf-viewer is Acrobat.

Is there some other place where I have to tell XnView to use Acrobat?
This is just a checkmark... 🤔

Fabulous! Thanks a bunch!!! 🙂 🙂

@Developer: I missed this because if you search through the settings for "pdf", for some reason this setting page doesn't show up...
Can this be remediated? 🤔
