Categories missing

Hi, I have been using XnView MP for about a year, tagging images using categories. This has all worked fine, but recently I've gone back to edit some of the categories tags and they've disappeared. That is, the information is still in the image metadata, but the category/ subcategory ticks no longer show up. This means I am unable to change existing tags - I can only add a tag, but then all of the existing tags in the meta data disappear. Also, the little organge flag that is added to tagged images is no longer present on these images. Does anyone know how I can get the categories back? Many thanks!

First, copy your xnview.db file for a backup.

Select a photo, View>Update catalog from files...
If it's OK, select most photos and update...
Other method :
If you have thousands, ensure that Tools, Settings, Metadata, Import... is ticked, then in settings, Catalog, click on Import folder button, browse and select the main folder containing your photos
