OS: Windows 10 v21H2, Windows Server 2022
XnViewMP's browser may or may not work properly when:
- The browse mode is set to one of the following views: Icons, List, or Details
- The browse mode is told not to scan file headers
Effect: Critical functionality impairment; the app doesn't perform the one thing it is meant to do: showing images!
To reproduce:
- Prepare a test machine (or virtual machine) with the following conditions:
- Install Microsoft Windows
- Copy several images (JPEG, PNG, and WebP) to the test machine
- Make sure an image viewer other than XnView MP is installed. (e.g., ImageGlass, Irfan View, or Microsoft Photos)
- Install XnViewMP 0.99.1
- Run XnViewMP 0.99.1
- Confirm the defaults for the first run.
- From the menu bar, choose Tools → Settings. (Or, just press F12 on your keyboard.)
- From the menu bar, choose View → View as → Details
- Exit XnView MP!
- Start XnView MP again.
Actual behavior (bug): XnView MP shows a list of images with a gray background, indicating that it has not detected their type correctly. Double-clicking on the image launches the associated app (the same effect as pressing F3.)
