Backing up favourite photos

I would like to make a backup of my favourite photos and keep their original folder structure in my backup. Here is what I have tried. Search for photos in my chosen Category that have a rating of 4 or 5. Select all the results then use the Copy To command to save the results on an external drive. Doing this just saves all the photos in one folder. Is there any way to recreate the original folders on the external drive?
