Cropping on Mac - what am I missing? [Solved - Mouse settings]

XnView noob here with embarrasing question.

I have an image I want to crop - so I've selected crop mode with the relevant controls visible (per attachment) - how do I actually select the area to be cropped?

Normally it's just click left mouse button & drag area, but this just doesn't work on XnView (nor does right click & drag).

I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing but this doesn't seem to work the same way as other image editors.
