File properties don't show (Mac)

Hi,

for some reason, many of my files don’t seem to have any properties etc. These files also open on the Preview app instead of XnView.

The thumbnails and previews are shown normally, I can see the actual properties in Finder and there doesn’t seem to be any issues when the files open in Preview either.

I have no idea what causes this and the files this happens to are seemingly random - for example, I couldn't find any notable differences between Photo1 and Photo2 in the screenshot.

Does anyone know what causes this and whether it can be fixed somehow? Thanks!

do you have tried 'view>rebuild thumbnails'

I did, but that didn't change anything.

Thank you, but I think I found the solution myself - the issue had nothing to do with the images themselves but was (probably) actually caused by the external drive I was using. Copying the files into another location and replacing the originals with the copies fixed everything. I'm still not sure what caused the issue but at least it works now.
