Hello,
One feature I appreciate with XnView classic that is missing on MP is that, when several picture files are selected in the browser, the preview shows the last selected one. Thus, when the browser shows only the list of files (no thumbnails), it is easy to select a series of file, as each newly selected file appears in the preview in place of the previous one, and can therefore be unselected if not wanted (useful for batch rename for example). With XnView MP, as soon as more than one file is selected, the preview becomes empty, so the selection has to be made in blind condition. I would appreciate that XnView MP could behave as the classic version on this point
Thanks
simon (on widows 64 bits 7 and 10)
Preview with several (>1) files selected

Re: Preview with several (>1) files selected
Thank you for your suggestion, simon. I've just tried in XnView MP 1.00 and preview is updated in most cases and matches the selection. There is a bug when selecting using a rectangle; the second last selected image is previewed and not the last selected.
Could you please describe your suggestion in a bit more detail? A hint how you do multi-select images would be very helpful ("Ctrl + Mouse click on thumbnail" or "Dragging a rectangle" or ...).

Re: Preview with several (>1) files selected
Hi Helmut,
I also use MP 1.00 (64 bits). A "rectangle" drawn by the mouse is not an easy way to muti-select files in XnViewMP, as this often results in changing the order of files rather than selecting them. For multi-selection I use either the mouse left click + ctrl (to add one) or + shift (to add a range), or the keyboard down or right arrow + shift. In any case, having more than 1 file selected results in an empty preview, whereas the same procedure with XnView classic results in the preview of the last file selected (the exact same behaviour is observed on different computers running W10 pro or W7 pro 64 bits)
cheers

Re: Preview with several (>1) files selected
Windows 10 64 bit, XnView 1.00
Thank you, simon, for your additional infos. Actually, I use same controls as you do (Ctrl + Left mouse click or Shift + Cursor left/right). Though when selecting several files the preview is updated and shows the last recently selected file, so no problem here. I wonder why this doesn't work for you. There must be something different. Could you try and reset xnview settings (see topic "Info about XnView's settings (store & load)", section "Resetting XnView to default settings")?

Re: Preview with several (>1) files selected
Thanks Helmut for your help. Indeed, resetting the ini file solves the issue, but restoring my initial layout re-introduces it. Finally I found that the issue comes from having "preview as tab" selected in view/info panel: the whole info panel, including the preview if it is linked to it, becomes inactive when more than 1 file is selected. Finally I kept my previous ini file but just unselected the "preview as tab", and all work as expected.
