1.0 Linux: Tree view (very) slow

Tree view becomes slower when there are more nested folders open. The depth of the folder tree causes the slowdown, not the amount of folders, and only when the nested folders are in view. My desktop PC can power through the performance hit, but my weak laptop will slow to under 1 frame per second while attempting to organize files by dragging them into the folder view, making it unusable.

Effect: Slow performance, unusable performance.

To reproduce:
1. In tree view, expand a deep folder tree.
2. Drag a file from the file view over the tree view folders.

Actual behaviour (bug): Slow performance

i have created a 11 folders deep, but not slow. You have slowdown when changing folder, when clicking on the UI?

Slowdown occurs when dragging files from the thumbnail view over a nested folder in the tree view. You don't need to drop the file into a folder, just dragging the file over the folder causes slowdown. Create multiple folders at the final depth and drag a file over them, the highlight shown when hovering over a folder will lag behind the cursor. My laptop has an Intel N4020 CPU and it takes several seconds for the highlight to change between folders when dragging a file over them.

To put the issue in perspective, the Intel 4020 is by modern standards a very basic processor: Celeron, 14nm process, 2 cores, base frequency 1.1 GHz, burst frequency 2.8 GHz, 6W TDP.

I am currently using a same family N4000 Pentium, 4 core, similar frequencies, 6W TDP processor laptop: its advantages are long battery life and that it is silent as it doesn't need a fan, it is fine for my normal needs - no video editing or complex spreadsheet calculations - but it soon slows down when loaded continuously as when making a large file copy.
