How to setup catalog to use relative paths to files?
Hello, Pierre and community. I tried searching, but could not find a solution.
Problem: I have a pool of images on a cloud drive under Drive/Content/ folder. Portable XnView is located on the same drive under Drive/XnView/. I want my assistants to have a shared catalog that we can maintain. The problem is that every machine has a different path to /Drive/. A supposed solution would be to setup XnView database to use a relative path like ../Content/. Can this be achieved? Any other way to solve this?

Are you familiar with Tools > Settings... > Integration -- Paths tab?
You could possibly test using a relative path for the Custom option, not sure whether it will work.

Update: That's not it. This setting tells XnView where to look for config files and such. It also uses absolute paths.

Re: How to setup catalog to use relative paths to files?
Hello,
I believe that it's possible to add a virtual drive pointing to a specific folder with Windows or Linux...
It's maybe easier to add (mount) the same drive in all computers ?
The problem is that every machine has a different path to /Drive/.

Thank you. That's a nice suggestion and a possibility I'll keep in mind. However I would love to know if it's possible using XnView. I really don't want to tell two casual users that we're gonna setup virtual drivesmichel038 wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:03 am Hello,

Re: How to setup catalog to use relative paths to files?
The Tools > Settings... > Integration -- Paths tab allows a choice of available alternative locations for the .ini file, if you have tested those locations without success, I think that you can assume that using a relative path is not possible without, possibly, modification of the program code.
In the absence of an early response from xnview the developer of all xnview.com software, you could suggest that the option, which seems a reasonable request that could be of wider interest, be added if it is technically possible, preferably as a new thread under the Suggestions heading. But understand that there is a limit to what a sole developer can provide...

I was hoping to get an answer from Pierre, but alas. I will take your suggestion. Sorry but currently there is no way to specify a relative path for databasesomerandomguy5 wrote: Sun Sep 04, 2022 11:39 am I was hoping to get an answer from Pierre, but alas. I will take your suggestion. Thank you.
