Re: removing single Keyword from multiple files
Yes this feature exists.

Re: removing single Keyword from multiple files
When using "Edit IPTC" or"Edit XMP", it's a bit tricky to choose right options in last tab.
But XnViewMp provides a tool named "Categories" to manage keywords.
For this specific task, go to Settings>Metadata and enable both "Import" and "Export", and set iptc or xmp according to your keywords.
Select the pictures, and click View>Update catalog from files.
(If you want to enable the whole catalog with all your photos, go to Settings Catalog, and " Add" the parent folder containing all the photos)
Select pictures, go to " Categories filter" pane, and unmark the category corresponding to the keyword you want to remove...

Re: removing single Keyword from multiple files
Thank you, I saw the categories window, but didn’t make the other connections, excellent
Thanks
I did search on the internet, but so so much is out of date or just wrong ( and never corrected ) all I could find was, that would be a nice feature but can’t be done now. The user guide you linked to is in French
Seems quite a procedure, would be so much easier to select images to be changed, untick the keyword(s) not wanted and click process…..using the view drop down to process files seems odd, good it can be done but seems quite a procedure
Thanks again
Also did you mean update files from catalog ?
Thanks

Re: removing single Keyword from multiple files
"Update catalog from files" is used when keywords have been created or added by other softwares, or if catalog was empty or damaged.
"Update files from catalog" is used when photos have been categorized without Export options, and one wants now to export categories as keywords.
Both applies only on selected files.

You select your files and click on the common keyword to delete.
edit:
in the category sets panel the common keywords are in bold
Re: removing single Keyword from multiple files
You must display the panels... View/Panels/Categories or Category sets
