The Preferences and About XnView items are greyed out shortly after an edit to Preferences, I can work around it by switching folders or performing other activities, then it becomes accessible (white) again. This should be fixed.

You go to Preferences, Close and Preferences menu is greyed?Toby W. wrote: Thu Aug 04, 2022 1:34 pm The Preferences and About XnView items are greyed out shortly after an edit to Preferences, I can work around it by switching folders or performing other activities, then it becomes accessible (white) again. Re: Unable to access Preferences
Yes, I can access preferences from the settings gear icon, but from the pull-down menu, after an edit to preferences, when I go back, Preferences is grayed out. I can get it to reappear in white if I switch to an image tab (top center area of interface) and then back. Interestingly this also affects the About and the Quit in the same menu. By the way, I running am on a new Mac Studio M1 Ultra if that is of any help.
I love this program! By the way, I have been trying in vain to find a replacement for Media Pro which I have used for many many years, and this is it!

Re: Unable to access Preferences
I will work on understanding it better at this end. Are there specific events that trigger the behavior, for instance. I’ll get back to you if I discover any more specific information. Could it be specific to the hardware side?? Anyway, I’ll report back on the issue. Yesterday I had to quit using command Q because Quit was grayed out, by the way.

Mac Mini, late 2014, 2.8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, fusion drive, running OS 12.5.1
XnView MP MacOSX Version 1.02 64bits (Aug 24 2022) Libformat version 7.114
I just had this same problem. Pierre told me how to solve thumbnails not synched with full size images, using "Preferences" menu. After closing menu, under XnView in Apple top menu bar, "About XnView", "Preferences", "Show all" and "Quit XnView" were all grayed out.
"Services", "Hide XnView", and "Hide Others" were all black text.
Although "Quit XnView" was grayed out, "Command+Q" keyboard shortcut worked to quit the program.
Selecting different folders being viewed made no difference.
Quitting and re-starting XnView brought back the grayed-out menu choices, with only "Show All" grayed out.

Re: Unable to access Preferences
This seems to be a known issue: “Mac, Preferences and Quit menus unavailable (minor)”brucet99 wrote: Mon Aug 29, 2022 3:23 pmAfter closing menu, under XnView in Apple top menu bar, "About XnView", "Preferences", "Show all" and "Quit XnView" were all grayed out.
