Hotkey for Favorites
I like to request a hotkey for fast access to Favorites dropdown list.
F6 is available.

Re: Hotkey for Favorites
Using the hotkey, do you want to access the entries in the drop down list or do you want to open the dialog "Favorites / Bookmarks"?Lesmo16 wrote:I like to request a hotkey for fast access to Favorites dropdown list.

Not a real menu…
Hello !
- I've requested that for a loooong while, but it is not basically possible currently for the following reason :
- The list is NOT a real menu, but an INI file !
- Only the upper entries "Add… " and "Edit…" are menu-entries and support hotkeys.
- Hence, you can't set hotkeys there, that can't work !
- I talk about this in several threads already, please use the Search { it works, sometimes }
- This is indicated in my Manual too…

Re: Hotkey for Favorites
So when pressing the hotkey the dropdownlist should be opened up and the first bookmark (first entry below the separator) should be selected, right?Lesmo16 wrote:Just to access the entries in the drop down list.helmut wrote:Using the hotkey, do you want to access the entries in the drop down list or do you want to open the dialog "Favorites / Bookmarks"?Lesmo16 wrote:I like to request a hotkey for fast access to Favorites dropdown list.

Re: Not a real menu…
Nevertheless I can't see any reason, why it shouldn't work in a way as Helmut described it in previous post.Clo wrote:- The list is NOT a real menu, but an INI file !

I would even be satisfied, if the list will be dropped down and will have the focus at least (regardless which entry is highlighted).
Claude, I hope you'll happily correct your manual after next release.

Aside but---
AVE !
- Indeed, that I expressed is a bit aside that you requested, but it's a very irritating lack too…
- I proposed a small real text menu-file to Pierre for this… Wait and see…

It's already in my hotkeys list here:
I suggest Ctrl+F1, since we know Alt+F1 from file managers, maybe also Alt+F1 should be implemented (temporary, untill Change Drive button and hotkey will be implemented).
I suggest also move down with a shortcut, e.g.:
- press a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) first time
= show fav. menu (firts item)
- press a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) second time
= show second item
...

Wouldn't it be possible to show favorite menu with a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) with first item focused and, then, to be able to use key 'up', 'down', 'enter' to navigate through them directly, just as the usual behaviour?Dreamer wrote:- press a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) first time

This would be better, I think...

That's exactly the way I'd expect this to work, Olivier. Navigation in Menu is always done using cursor keys, that should be intuitive and obvious.Olivier_G wrote:Wouldn't it be possible to show favorite menu with a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) with first item focused and, then, to be able to use key 'up', 'down', 'enter' to navigate through them directly, just as the usual behaviour?Dreamer wrote:- press a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) first time

I don't like the Ctrl+F1 shortcut very much: F1 typically opens the Help document. And Ctrl + F1 is tooltip help on specific controls (in some applications). So I'd prefer a different hotkey.

Yes, nothing else - but with F6.helmut wrote:That's exactly the way I'd expect this to work, Olivier. Of course, I mean this AND this.Olivier_G wrote:Wouldn't it be possible to show favorite menu with a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) with first item focused and, then, to be able to use key 'up', 'down', 'enter' to navigate through them directly, just as the usual behaviour?Dreamer wrote:- press a shortcut (Ctrl+F1) first time

I don't like the Ctrl+F1 shortcut very much
I don't like F6, it's not very handy and it's used as "move" key in file managers, so it would be confusing...
Another ideas:
- Alt+F3 (Alt+F1/F2 shortcuts are used in file manager to show "drives menu")
- Alt+F
We can use 2 or 3 shortcuts, temporary also Alt+F1, instead of "drives menu", it can be used in Favourites.

Hello !
• Sorry, impossible : it opens already the File Menu, same in French ( Fichier) and other languages (Spanish I guess…), both in "View" and in "Browser" modes……- Alt+F …

Dreamer, there will ever be applications already using suggested shortcuts!Dreamer wrote:I don't like F6, it's not very handy and it's used as "move" key in file managers, so it would be confusing...

As you mentioned, also my file manager (TotalCommander) uses F6 for Move.
But I don't care about it - luckily I'm young and able to remember that.
And you really think a Two-keys-with-two-fingers-shortcut is more handy than only one F-Key?
You're joking, right?Dreamer wrote:We can use 2 or 3 shortcuts, temporary also Alt+F1, instead of "drives menu", it can be used in Favourites.
