Re: XnView MP keeps corrupting the "crdownload" icon from Chrome!
Very bad like all functions on Windows 11!
The XnView icon appeared again!
Every download via Chrome is shown to me as an XnView icon!
No cache clearing works! Even with Winaero tweaker!
I don't want to uninstall XnView MP and done! Every time I tell it to temporarily open it (that download), it offers me XnView as the default! Even in the Widows 11 setup, I tried to remove XnView as the default, but there are a huge number of them and each one is only for one image format, which is absurd!
Resetting Chrome is out of the question, and the question is whether there will be any benefit.
I am forced to set Download in Chrome to ask me where to save!
That's the only thing that works!
Horror one!!

- .crdownload files are just partially downloaded files from a Chromium based browser and when you delete the correctly downloaded file that file should just disappear
- It is not easy to remove a file association in Windows 10, basically, the process is to create a dummy application, associate that file type to that dummy application, then delete the dummy application and restart your PC . . .
- Open Windows File Explorer
On the view Ribbon (tab) check the box marked 'File Name Extensions'
Close File Explorer
Right click your Desktop and choose New - Text File
Right click that text file and choose rename, then change the file extension on that new file from .txt to .exe
Confirm the change- Right click a .crdownload file, choose open with - Choose another App
Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open .crdownload files' - IMPORTANT!
Scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'
Again scroll to the bottom and choose 'Find another app on this PC'
Navigate to the dummy file exe on your Desktop and click OK
The .crdownload file will not open, this is expected!- Delete the dummy exe file on your Desktop and restart your PC
The file association will then be broken!

Hi
I've tried it all!
Really, after the reset, I don't have the XnView icon, BUT the next day (?!) after turning on the PC, it's the same again!!
Terrible?

I'm running out of ideas
but resetting auto open settings for downloaded files in Chrome seems worth a try.

Hi
It seems interesting, but it seems to me that since the last Chrome there are no Advanced settings and especially the action: How To Reset Auto Open Settings For Downloaded Files In Chrome!

- Enter chrome://prefs-internals/ in Chrome's address bar.
- Hit Ctrl+F and search for extensions_to_open

Hi
Only this one:
"extensions_to_open": "",
"extensions_to_open_by_policy": [ ],
And now is evening (late) and I am sitting all day on PC!
I wil investigate other Your suggestions tomorow!
I currently "fooled" Chrome by putting in User folder (me) the file "new text document.txt" with the extension exe and telling the partially downloaded file to open with it!
It works for now but it has a blue square in the white icon!
Hello and good night!
