I uses XnView 1.80.3 (Sep 6 2005) on Windows XP SP2.
Could someone confirm this problem. I don't know that this only happen to me or not.
XnView will use CPU 100% if you choose "View>Sort By>Type" in Thumbnail Mode, then doubleclicks any picture to enter View Mode. XnView will work (at 100%) for awhile, you cannot do any thing at this stage, it will stuck on the picture you selected. If you have a lot of picture files in your folder, it will take more processing time. For me, In some folder with 3000+ pictures, XnView always crash.
Note that this will not happen if you sort your pictures by anything else except "type".

Yeah I had that problem a while ago. That bug occured with only one folder what had only jpg files in it. I had something like 20 pictures in that folder, so amount of pictures probably isn't the case, but it will surely increase the chance to get that bug.
Edit:
Yay I found those pics.

I included my xnview.ini to that zip so if you can't reproduce the bug try using my ini.
It seems like the witchman.jpg causes this. It's the only one that don't have any meta data. Maybe that bug is meta data related.
Hmm also the sorting isn't correct. All the pics are jpg, but then it should sort the files by name right?

XnView Tweak UI - Tool to customize your XnView beyond the regular XnView options.
UI-less Settings - Documentation of all the hidden settings in XnView.
XFAM - Tool to create and customize XnView file associations.

I've never notice this until I saw your post. You are right, it's a bit ood. The correct way should be sorting by name in each type. I think capitalization is a factor. In a folder (all files are PNG and "sort by type" is selected), XnView sorts "Dig", "Wolf" and after by "art", "den".ckv wrote:Hmm also the sorting isn't correct. The problem still exist even I deselected those options.marsh wrote:I can recreate high cpu usage problem with 'sort by type'. Problem goes away by turning off image cache (read one image ahead & keep current image in cache).
