XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Windows 10 64bit
XnView Shell Extension 4.1.5 64bit
The context menu works for other image formats but does not work/appear for HEIC format.
I have been searching for supported formats but cannot find that list.
Does this application work for HEIC image format? If so am i missing something?
Thanks.

Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
could you try to put Plugins\heif.dll Plugins\libde265.dll Plugins\libx265.dll from XnView MP x64 packagespirospz wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 6:34 pm Does this application work for HEIC image format? If so am i missing something?
in a Plugins folder in XnViewShellExt path?
Pierre.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
I added the plugins as you said and it still doesnt work.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
you have Plugins subfolder in the same folder of XnShellExt.dll?
Pierre.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
That is correct. Plugins folder & XnShellExt.dll are both in the ShellEx Folder.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Strange, it works for JPEGXL, WebP or JPEG2000 but not for HEIC, i'll check
Pierre.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Yes, I just tried again with JPEGXL, WebP & JPEG2000 and those formats do work, but still no HEIC.
Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Hello,
On my 64 bit computers (win 7 and win 10), XnView Shell extension 64 bits (v. 4.1.5) does not fully work on jpeg-xl files (with a copy of libJPEGXL.dll from XnViewMP put in the plugin folder of XnView Shelle extension).
- I can see the thumbnail and some information about a jpeg-xl file, that is already great
- the convert tool proposes the jpeg-xl format to save an file in the jpeg-xl format, that is also great
- but the parameters cannot be accessed, and the file is converted using the lossless method
(which may make for an already lossless file, e.g. png, but does not make sense for a lossy jpeg with low quality, as in this case the resulting jpeg-xl file is usually much larger than the initial jpeg file)
thanks
simon

Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Does not work here (on win 10 pro). More specifically, all basic functions (thumbnail view, informations, direct conversion in a few classical formats) seem to work perfectly but clicking to the "convert to ..." menu that gives access to saving in many possible formats has no effect ... I go back to 4.15

Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
Thumbnails are displayed correctly (including those in jpeg-XL), "convert to" also works, but the two entries that call a menu, "convert ..." and 'options ...' do not work ... clicking on any of them only activates the hourglass and nothing happens (and the 'escape' key is then the only means to get out)
