1.4.0 does not maintain selected location of .ini file [Solved]

Post by Fres »

Laptop with XnviewMP under W10 22H2. In settings/integration/paths I can select the location of the .ini file. I prefer 'user (system)'. This location is accepted and recognized with a click on button 'open the location of the configuration settings'. After closure and reopening Xnview the setting has been changed to the default 'program (Xnview).

I think you may now possibly need to use admin rights to first make the location writable, or something like that?

I spend my time in Linux these days, a great relief although similar issues can arise there, but I vaguely recall possibly seeing a recent post to that effect.

No, not in the program folder; I have my xnview.ini in the user file (user|appdata\Roaming\XnviewMP)

when you reopen XnView, 'open the location' opens c:\users\appdata\Roaming\XnviewMP?

Sorry, My apologies: I mixed up replies with situation on my desktop where I donot have the problem as described. So this problem exists under W10 on laptop but not on W11. On the laptop I do have the .ini file in the program folder and not in the user folder.

@cday: using XnViewMP with administrator rights doesnot solve the issue.

I thought I saw a recent post that might have been related, but I am mainly in Linux where I did recently have a similar issue.

A question: If you open the directory (in a user account may be sufficient) that contains 'user (system)' and right-click on the folder, is there an option to make the folder writable?

Issue solved after transfer of XnView.ini to user folder.
