1.4.0: Can't Select Multiple Thumbnails (Mac)

XnView MP Version 1.4.0 64bits (Dec 13 2022)
OS: MacOS Ventura 13.0.1

With the latest version of XnView, on a thumbnail view screen, you can no longer select multiple thumbnails by single-left-clicking on one thumbnail, and then do a Cmd-left-click or a Shift-left-click on a second thumbnail. Instead, when you attempt to select that second thumbnail, the first thumbnail is deselected (and so you are left having selected only that second thumbnail).

This prevents, for instance, deleting two photos at once, or a range of photos. Prior to the latest version, such second- or group-selecting was possible.

Actually, it is a colour issue.

They have changed the colours for selecting multiple images.

If you see it, files are selected with very light black border and last image in blue only.

UNHAPPY with this new feature.

Please make all selected in blue as earlier version.

Ah, now that you directed my attention to it, I see what you mean.

Thank you very much for helping me out.

And I certainly agree with you: I liked things the way they were, because it's much easier to notice the blue file titles (the way I have that thumbnail view configured) of the thumbnails selected -- that's a very large swath of blue -- than to squint at the color change of the thin border pixels around the thumbnails.

which theme do you use in macos and in XnView?

I use the Default theme.

Here is a screen grab of my having selected the last four thumbnails. I just noticed that two things show that they are selected:

1) The change in the color of the very thin border around them.

2) The area below the thumbnails is gray, instead of light yellow (or whatever that color is, below the unselected thumbnails).

I hadn't noticed that change to gray yesterday, with the new version. In older versions, the area below the thumbnails of ALL the selected thumbnails was blue (just like the last selected one). Blue is much easier to see than gray, and blue is also the color used most often in other apps (at least on the Mac) to designate something that's selected (e.g., in an email program, in Finder, etc.).

Further, I don't see a good reason to have one of the selected items blue and the rest gray. That is, it seems more logical to me to have all selected items be the same color.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
