Currently, in the browser view, scrolling with the mouse wheel is done in increment matching your thumbnail height. There is a checkbox to disable this in the options, but then scrolling is done page by page (PgUp PgDn behavior).
I suggest adding a "smooth scroll" option so that mouse wheel scrolling can be incremented by a customizable fixed height—the way that browsers, and some advanced file managers like Directory Opus work. I don't mean adding a delayed animation so that the move is done pixel by pixel over time (although that would also be a nice option for some users), I mean making it so that the scrolling increment can be reduced to less than a large thumbnail's height.

+1
Currently, when unchecking the setting "View scroll the content by thumbnail", vertical scrolling using the mouse wheel is almost pagewise scrolling and thus very coarse - even coarser than in XnView Classic. A finer default and a user-defined setting would be good.

It makes it very difficult to keep track of where you are when navigating a folder with very large thumbnails (when preselecting shots, for example).

+1 from me too.
Would really love to see this implemented.
I note that Picasa worked this way, and it's one of the small but significant 'quality of life' features that I feel is missing.

Same for me, I'd prefer a smooth scrolling mode as well.

Signed up here just now to say this!
I was comparing Adobe Bridge and XnView, and immediately noticed the smooth scrolling in Bridge. It's so much better. I'm losing my place easily in XnView due to the jumpy scrolling. I want to use this software instead of Bridge, but this is a pretty big drawback.
XnView developers, please consider implementing this.
