1.4.2 Win64 - Pasting into Any Folders from Parent Folder

Post by ckit »

It can't be done!

Step 1: Open XnView Browser and copy any image to the Clipboard
Step 2: Create a New Folder eg. "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" or use Existing Folder eg. C:\Downloads\Temp in "Files Panel"
Step 3: Select "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" or "C:\Downloads\Temp"
Step 4: Right click "Paste" and the image on the Clipboard is Pasted into "C:\Downloads" and NOT "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1"

Same thing happens with Ctrl+V action

Step 1: Open XnView Browser and copy any image to the Clipboard
Step 2: Create a New Folder eg. "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" in "Files Panel"
Step 3: In "Folders Panel" Right click "Paste" on "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" and the image on the Clipboard is Pasted into "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1"
Using the above steps with "Folders Panel" instead of "Files Panel" and everything works fine

I can drag and drop from "C:\Downloads" to "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" just fine
XYplorer can paste from "C:\Downloads" to "C:\Downloads\New Folder 1" just fine

XnView MP 1.4.2 ZIP version, C:\XnViewMP
Windows 11 Pro x64 22H2, Automatic Drivers from WU disabled, MPO disabled, Secure Boot enabled, TPM enabled

Update:
My setup is redone:
XnView MP 1.4.2 EXE setup, C:\Program Files\XnViewMP (all other files into User\AppData)
Windows 11 Pro x64 22H2, Automatic Drivers from WU disabled, MPO disabled, Secure Boot enabled, TPM enabled

BTW, I had to use RegEdit to correct the "webp.ico" for WebP associations it was using "generic.ico"
Can't wait for HEIC and AVIF to get special shiny icons of their own :)

pasteIntoSubfolder=false naturally I'm changing that to "true"
I don't understand why this even exists, "copying, cutting and pasting" should always be enabled on Windows platforms, oh wait are you using this for debugging purposes?

Thank you, Pierre 🤗
