I would like to suggest a new command line option to open XnView MP in browser mode with a specific file being selected. Something like:

xnviewmp.exe -browse <file_path_name_extension>

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.5.0 beta. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
