I tried a 60fps mp4 file with Full HD resolution and the playback does not have any freezing moments or other problems.

Please give us some further details of your video file.
You can use mediainfo to show the complete details of resolution, video and audio codec, etc.

For best playback you can try the LAV-Filters, which decode videos in different programs.
Maybe it can fix your playback issues.
