Scroll through individual images from browser view?

Post by malletp »

Hello,
Gwenael Q. wrote: Wed Mar 01, 2023 1:21 pm I may be wrong but I think that the issue viewtopic.php?f=95&t=44539&p=184418
strongly relates with this one.

Thanks for listening
Yes the issue that is discussed here seems to be the same as the one I opened (44539) later

I have XnView MP 1.4.3 and I've just checked the first exemple I gave
malletp wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:52 pm Exemple 1 :
  • I put some pictures in a same folder
  • No color mark on any picture
  • I put red color mark on the second picture
  • View / Filter by / Uncolored
  • The second picture disappeared and XnViewMP displays only Uncolored thumbnail => OK
  • I double click on the first picture, I click on -> to see the following : XnViewMP displays the second picture of the folder (the red colored one) while it was filtered in Thumbnail mode
Unfortunately, the result is the same and I can't confirm the bug is fix

Yes, filter still ignored while navigating through files using next/previous keys or arrows

Hello Pierre,

I just checked this new version. It seems not fixed yet.
I went to a folder with ~70 pictures, selected about half of them, put a mark, 4 stars and a the label "Personal". When filtering on any or Marked, 4 stars or the said label the browser shows the one I selected, that's correct . However, when I go to view mode I still see the whole set of pictures.

Do you use the 'Categories filter' panel?

Hello Pierre,

No I didn't use the filter panel. These looks working fine as far I can see.

However, using the filter on the toolbar fails both in View and in Full screen. I checked again with the Stars, the "Marked", the Pictures and it's confirmed, all the files in the folder (and sub-folders if selected) are included. I checked also the Color filter as well and this time I have not been able to reproduce, this one looks good so far

Hello,

I've just installed XNViewMP 1.4.4 to test the correction with my exemples :
malletp wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:52 pm Exemple 1 :
  • I put some pictures in a same folder
  • No color mark on any picture
  • I put red color mark on the second picture
  • View / Filter by / Uncolored
  • The second picture disappeared and XnViewMP displays only Uncolored thumbnail => OK
  • I double click on the first picture, I click on -> to see the following
Before 1.4.4 : XnViewMP displayed the second picture of the folder (the red colored one) while it was filtered in Thumbnail mode => KO
Now with 1.4.4 : XnViewMP doesn't display the second picture of the folder (the red colored one) => OK
In this case, the problem is fixed

malletp wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:52 pm Exemple 2 :
  • I put both videos and pictures in the same folder
  • View / Filter by / Images
  • XnViewMP display only pictures thumbnail => OK
  • I double click on the first picture, I click on -> to see the following, then I click on -> to see the following, and so on to look at all the pictures in the folder
  • When a video exists between two pictures, XnView plays it even if “Picture” filter is ON and even if this video is not displayed in thumbnails view (which is normal)
Now with 1.4.4 : no difference
In this case; the problem is not fixed.

Hello,

I'm sorry but I've just downloaded XNViewMP 1.4.5 and my test case is still KO.

I need to agree after having checked on my desktop PC in a folder with a mix of videos and pictures : Even if the filter is set to pictures only, videos are still part of the set when navigating forward and backward with left or right arrow keys / mouse roller,...
However, filtering by stars, by color label or by tag seems working fine (so my previous statement is only partially true).
My desktop PC runs Windows 7 (yes, still :? )

Back on my laptop, the issue with filtering on pictures only excludes videos as expected. This machine is running Windows 11 . That's the main difference I see.

So yes, not fully fixed

It's curious because I my case I run XnViewMP 1.4.5 on my Laptop with Windows 11 and it still shows videos when navigating in a "pictures only" filtered set.

Correction, there is another difference :
On my laptop (Win 11) the application is installed via the executable installer. Is it the same for you MalletP?

On the desktop (Win 7) the application is installed via the zip package. There are multiple users of this machine, none have admin rights. Deploying using the zip package is a workaround I use to ensure consistency accross all users and prevent loss of metadata. Doing so the .ini file is in the application folder, common to all. .
