No key (shortcut) to launch video playback?

Post by postcd »

XnView MP Linux (Debian + KDE desktop, latest stable)
Version 1.3.1 64bits (Oct 12 2022)
Libformat version 7.126

During browsing my images (full screen or exit full screen viewer) in the folder i reach some video and seem intuitive to hit spacebar for playback, but nothing happen, even less handy key like "p" not trigger it. Mouse over the playback button does not suggest any key/board shortcut. Also in XNView settings i am unable to find any shortcut.

Is this a bug or playback can not be trigger by key (it would be bad and definitely something to improve! Annoying having to find mouse and aim during browsing using keyboard).

https://download.xnview.com/XnViewMP-linux-x64.deb
or
https://download.xnview.com/XnView_MP.g ... 4.AppImage

I have just tried and it results in XnView MP Linux Version 1.4.5 64bits (May 10 2023) Libformat version 7.143.
Yet i continue to have ALL issues described in leading post. Btw. shortcut settings, i was searching for play and vide.

You are right, after this modification, video started playing upon "spacebar" key. It is handy.
I am unsure if spacebar is by default set for next file, if yes, users continue having issue trying to find key to play the video file (no tooltip on playback button showing shortctu or none available).
Ideas:
A) attempt to map "p" key (used by Linux MPV for example) automatically if space is used for "next file" and "p" not used for anything else
B) spacebar "next file" action is not enabled by default (arrow keys are used anyway) and option description in settings may warn that enabling may override video playback action
